FAQs

Do I have to have experience with triathlon?

No. Many athletes come to us with a background in a variety of sports. We will work with you to develop you into a triathlete. The only requirement is that you can swim 200m, own a bike and will give your best effort.

Why can’t I use a triathlon bike (TT bike) or other bike in races?

In draft-legal events, only road bikes are permitted. TT bikes are designed for longer events and do not have the handling ability of a road bike. This makes them unsafe in pack riding.

How often do we practice?

As a team we practice 1x per month until the weather permits, then we meet 2x per month. We also meet prior to races to review the course, and understand the logistics of the race.

Each season our practice schedule changes based on athlete availability. Because many athletes are swimming or training with other teams, they will choose the on-line training option to get the training in.

Where area the athletes on the team from?

We support athletes in a variety of different states and locally in Ohio.

We have held practices in Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo. It depends on the central location for most of the athletes. Typical summer practices are held at university pools or state parks.

Who can join the team?

Any athlete in middle or high school, male or female may join the team. The only requirements are that you are self disciplined and YOU want to improve. We expect you to be responsible for your training- meaning that you are expected to upload your workouts to Training Peaks. You must have a goal to compete in draft-legal racing against other athletes your age.
