Coaches have a responsibility to share and help each other grow. I have been fortunate to have had several mentors who have guided and inspired me through out my journey. Among them is Bill Wadley, previous Head Coach of The Ohio State swim team. Bill always made time for me, and encouraged me to reach out to top coaches to learn from them and to keep growing as a coach. Although Bill has passed away, his influence continues to shape my work and perspective. “Find coaches you respect and learn from them.”

Other amazing mentors include: Jamie Turner, coach of Gwen Jorgensen. Ian O’brien, US Olympic Coach, Sonni Dyer, Head Coach of Queens University, Jess Book- Head Swim Coach of Kenyon College, Zac Nave- Head Cycling Coach of Milligan University, James Peterson of JP Elite and Brooks Doughtie of All Out Multisport. Coach Kim is currently enrolled at the University of Missouri’s Graduate program- M.S. Educational Psychology with an emphasis on Leadership and Positive Coaching. It took a few years, but JT was right. The most important muscle to train is the one between the ears!
